The Slapshots were very happy to come to terms with Jake Allen and Calvin de Haan at the start of free agency. They may have been able to be had for less salary, but they were high priority targets for GM Tom Wagner and he wanted to ensure they became part of the Slapshots. Allen was our top goalie target and de Haan will likely serve as protector for Jared Spurgeon. Promising dman Sean Walker was also added and he will compete for the 6th dman spot. Finally, in addition to some much needed farm depth the Slapshots added Ryan Reaves. He will fit in with the other members of the 3rd & 4th lines to make life miserable for opposing teams.
Are the Slapshots done in free agency? With lots of cap space the club has engaged Sidney Crosby in talks. It remains to be seen if he wants to come to St. Louis or not, but the club is confident it has the financial resources to make it happen.
