In the last few weeks, the passion for hockey really took off in Krakow following the announcement of the Monsters' move to this beautiful city in Poland. With this enthusiasm, GM Julien really worked very hard to allow the Lumberjacks to be competitive from the start of the season.
Several players who were RFA will be back and all rookies who were eligible for a contract have also signed with the organization. Martin Kaut, Nathan Smith, Ruslan Iskhakov, Alex Green, Jakob Ragnarsson, Veini Vehvilainen and Samuel Ersson all agreed to move to Krakow to start their professional careers.
However, despite all his signings, the management of the Lumberjacks found that a few elements were missing for this season to be remarkable. It is for this reason that we learned yesterday in the day that 6 new players will join the team after signing contracts in the UFA market. Without further ado, here are the players in question.
1. Vasili Kosheckin (G) : Most imposing goaltender in the league at 6 ft 7 and 243 lbs. He signed a 2-year contract that will earn him $ 1M per season. He will act as a mentor for Veini Vehvilainen and Samuel Ersson. He will also undoubtedly be the team's number 1 goaltender. It is also a return for him in the organization of the Great Whites. Indeed, it was acquired by GM Julien during the last trade deadline and he ended the season by forming a duo with Mikko Koskinen.
2. Pavel Datsyuk (C) : It is like good wine, it is still so good after a few years !!! The arrival of this 41-year-old veteran can only be good news. In a press release, he said he was still in great shape and that the presence of several Russians in the organization was one of the reasons why he accepted the 1-year, $ 575,000 contract that GM Julien gave him. With the Lumberjacks, he will bring experience and leadership. His sense of spectacle will also be welcome.
3. Andrei Chibisov (RW) : A big 6 ft 4, 227 lbs right winger who signed a 1 year contract for $ 450,000. He will have a very impressive presence in front of the net during power play and it will be very difficult to face him on the edge of the ramps. He will also join several Russian compatriots like Ilya Kovalchuk, Vitali Abramov, Anatoli Golyshev, Pavel Datsyuk, Ruslan Iskhakov, Artyom Zub and Vasili Kosheckin.
4. Bokondji Imama (LW) : He's a tough player who's a real team guy. He never hesitates to throw away the gloves to come to the defense of his teammates. At 23, he accepted a contract for 1 year and $ 450,000 to come and play for the first time in Europe.
5. Alan Lyszczarczyk (I succeeded :P) (C/LW/RW) : Although he was born in Wallington, New Jersey, he also holds Polish nationality thanks to his father Darius who was born in Zakopane. He too has accepted a one-season contract that will earn him $ 450,000. He is only 22 years old and he will return to play hockey in front of his family.
6. Aron Chmielewski (RW) : 2nd player of Polish origin to join the ranks of the Lumberjacks.A native of Gdansk, the winger has accepted a one-year contract which will also net him $ 450,000.He returns to play at home after spending the last years in the professional league in the Czech Republic.
Despite all his signings, GM Julien would still be very active. Indeed, according to the information we received, he would be in discussion with 4 other players who would complete the lineup of the Great Whites. Unfortunately, we do not have more information at the moment. To be continued ...
